This ground floor comprises of three distinct commercial spaces inspired by a minimal, brutalist aesthetic, for members of the Mnemosyne Serviced Apartments to explore.

The key to working with the unconventional floor plate and creating a functional use of the space was to engage the curvature of the geometry provided throughout the spatial planning.

This floor was carefully designed to reflect the raw beauty of stark concrete, stone, and marble surfaces and forms, with each space exploring its own interpretation of brutalist architecture.

Throughout the lobby and reception area, there are expansive views of the surrounding city. Floor to ceiling glass walls allow natural light to filter deep into the space, providing a warmth that is juxtaposed against the concrete structural columns, floors and ceilings. Individuals are immediately greeted with an elegant marble reception desk, and plentiful seating throughout, for a luxurious and cosy entrance into the building.

The cocktail bar is a playful depiction of traditional brutalist materials, from the concrete-look herringbone floor tiles, to the cinder block cladding on the bar, with a complimentary touch of glam through denim toned, clay ceramic subway tiles. At the heart of this space, is an indoor/outdoor bar where customers are surrounded by open views of the surrounding city and Rushcutters Bay.

The art gallery is purest exploration of brutalist architecture, featuring carved, and volumetric concrete compositions. It houses three distinct spaces, each with a different purpose; a video/media installation room for members to sit and appreciate various types of media art, a side gallery that showcases sculptural and hanging art, and the main gallery which serves as the entrance, and exhibiting a variety of paintings and sculptures by various artists that are showing at the time.
